Different means of delivery are used for root canal irrigation, from traditional syringe-needle delivery to various machine-driven systems, including automatic pumps and sonic or ultrasonic energy. The apical root canal imposes a special challenge to irrigation as the balance between safety and effectiveness is particularly important in this area. Sterile water or saline may be used between these two main irrigants, however, they must not be the only solutions used. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) is needed as a final rinse to remove the smear layer. High concentration sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) has a better effect than 1 and 2% solutions. ![]() Sodium hypochlorite is the main irrigating solution used to dissolve organic matter and kill microbes effectively. Irrigation is also the only way to impact those areas of the root canal wall not touched by mechanical instrumentation. ![]() It has several important functions, which may vary according to the irrigant used: it reduces friction between the instrument and dentine, improves the cutting effectiveness of the files, dissolves tissue, cools the file and tooth, and furthermore, it has a washing effect and an antimicrobial/antibiofilm effect. We see a possibility where almost any land in the arid and semi-arid regions of Nigeria can be used to grow food crops, provided its major set-back is tackled using an effective irrigation system.Irrigation is a key part of successful root canal treatment. This system could be the solution to all year round food production, or better still, achieving the arability of every land. This automatic irrigation system supplies water as needed by plant, thus optimizing plant growth and help conserve water and energy. The microcontroller uses this information to schedule irrigation by turning on or off a solenoid valve that supplies water to the farmland. In this system of irrigation, critical information (soil moisture content) which is sent to a microcontroller is provided by a sensor. Automatic irrigation is a form of irrigation system that incorporates the theory of digital control and feedback system with irrigation. A method to reduce the problems associated with farming and as well increase food crop production is the implementation of a controlled technique to meet the soil moisture requirement for different food crops grown in respective locations. Considering the rate of population growth, there arise the needs to intensify the rate of food crop production so as to compensate for the increasing food demand. Farming is of utmost importance to the survival of the inhabitants of an area. Nigeria, for instance has a land area of 98.3 million ha, 74million ha is good for farming, but less than half of this is being explored. One often riddle with very many challenges. Overall yield response was observed to be best in soil moisture sensor based irrigation with paired row spacing as 8.06 t/ha, 6.52 t/ha for brinjal and tomato crops respectively.Īgriculture is constantly losing following. The uniformity coefficient, horizontal wetting pattern, depth of penetration of drip system was observed to be 98.2%, 34.5 cm, 40 cm respectively. The yield response of brinjal and tomato crops with plant to plant spacing of 40 cm for different row to row spacings (50 cm row to row spacing and 30×70 cm paired row spacing) and irrigation application methods (flood irrigarion, time based automated drip irrigation, soil moisture sensor based automated drip irrigation) was evaluated. The experimental site was divided into five sub plots with 3 × 20 m size to conduct experiments with brinjal and tomato crops. As the farm holdings are not large enough in India and also high cost of automation cannot be realized in India, in view of high cost of automated systems and to apply simple electronic circuit principles an attempt has been made to develop a low cost automatic irrigation based on soil moisture. Research in the developed countries is progressing towards real time irrigation, decision support system and expert systems. The recent irrigation techniques introduce automated irrigation using sophisticated equipments to supply water and nutrients to plants as soon as they need it. ![]()
